2. Is there public transportation?
There are local taxi services that our receptionist may help you with. The volunteer group, Friends in Service Helping (F.I.S.H.) can be contacted for medical appointments free of charge. The Sudbury Senior Center van provides in-town transportation for $1.00 to $2.00.
3. Are there recreation and exercise rooms?
Activities will be held both within and outside our building. We will plan exercise programs to suit the needs of our residents. Residents will also be questioned concerning their special interests at move-in.
4. Do you go on tours or trips?
Orchard Hill takes residents on out trips at least two times a week and often three times per week. The residents are polled about where they would like to go. Please see “Activities Photographs for a pictorial tour of our outings.
5. Do you have an entrance or membership fee?
Orchard Hill has a one-time Community Fee. The Community Fee is intended to cover the staff’s move in process, the resident’s initial Individual Service Plan, administrative costs, and move-in assistance.
6. Who pays for utilities?
All utilities, except for telephone and cable service, are included in the monthly fee.
7. How often do you raise your monthly fee?
An increase in the monthly fee is of concern to all residents, and we are sensitive to it. On the other hand, we do not want to cut costs by reducing services or quality of food. All fees are guaranteed for 12 months by your residency agreement.
8. Do you provide bathroom tissue and tissue paper?
It is only provided in the community restrooms, but can be purchased in the general store, or during trips to stores and markets near Orchard Hill.
9. Do you provide any apartments on an affordable basis?
Orchard Hill provides 10 affordable assisted living units. Residents who qualify for an affordable assisted living apartment pay a reduced rate from market levels. The affordable apartment rent is based upon state and federal guidelines. Orchard Hill offers services at a reduced rate, or residents may coordinate and arrange for alternative services, as necessary.
